  • Parallel injection

Why do people get lip augmentations?

Lip Augmentations improve the appearance of the lips by increasing their fullness and restoring their volume. Over time, the sun, gravity's pull, the environment, smoking or the aging process take their toll on lip fullness and definition. The aging process often results in thinner lips along with a visible lengthening of the distance from the base of the nose to the upper lip border. In addition, aging results in downturned corners of the mouth, giving a person the undesirable frowning appearance.

Another reason people may consider lip augmentations include the deterioration of natural substances that contribute to beautiful skin such as collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid due to the aging process.

What is the procedure like?

In recent years lip injections have become extremely popular a hundreds of thousands of Americans have enhanced their lips at a fraction of the cost and discomfort of surgery. Injectable lip augmentation techniques can be performed quickly with little to no downtime.

Injections may cause some discomfort during and after the injection. The smooth consistency gel of Juvederm allows us to administer it easily and smoothly. And, Juvederm is injected directly into the skin using a fine needle to reduce injection discomfort. Numbing the treatment area may further minimize discomfort.

The most common injectors include collagen, Juvederm, and Restylane these fillers are injected in small amounts, through a very fine needle, allowing for precision and minimizing trauma to the lips.

How long does each treatment usually take?

The injection process takes only about 15 minutes. You'll also need to allow time to consult with Dr. Darush prior to treatment.

How soon will you see the results? And How long do the results last?

You should be able to notice a difference immediately. Your lips should feel natural after you have fully healed. The correction is temporary; therefore, touch-up injections as well as repeat injections are usually needed to maintain optimal corrections 1-4 times a year.

How much do lip augmentations cost? Any Specials on Juvederm and Restylane?

What is Juvederm?

Juvederm is the only Hyaluronic Acid (HA) filler FDA approved to last up to 1 year.* Our unique manufacturing process provides a high concentration of cross-linked hyaluronic acid for long-lasting results. It also works to create a smooth consistency gel that flows easily into the skin and provides a smooth, natural look and feel. All other hyaluronic acid dermal fillers currently on the market are made of granular consistency gels. And, Juvederm is the first hyaluronic acid dermal filler that has demonstrated its safety and effectiveness in persons of color.

Juvederm injectable gel temporarily adds volume to facial tissue and restores a smoother appearance to the face or lips.

*Juvederm is indicated for injection into the mid to deep dermis for correction of moderate to severe

What is Restylane?

Restylane products are made of a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid, which is biocompatible with the human body and eventually broken down naturally. They can also add fullness and definition to lips in patients over 21 years, providing natural-looking results with just one treatment.

Restylane works immediately by adding volume to smooth away wrinkles. A clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid, Restylane is specifically formulated to act like your body's own hyaluronic acid, and eventually breaks down naturally.

How can Botox help?  What is "Lip Flip"?

Botox injections relax the lip muscles that cause lip lines and wrinkles and can be used in combination with dermal fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm.  Botox can help to:
  • enhance the upper lip, making them appear larger also called "Botox lip flip"
  • minimize the creases in the upper and lower mouth (smokers lines)
  • Correct "gummy smile"
  • Lift the corners of the mouth and improve marionette lines
What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in our skin that helps to hydrate and add volume to your skin. In addition to its use as an aesthetic treatment, hyaluronic acid has also been used for more than 20 years for injection into arthritic joints to aid movement as well as for eye surgeries and wound repair.

What is cross-linked hyaluronic acid?

“Uncross-linked” hyaluronic acid in its natural form is in a liquid state. “Cross-linking” is the process through which hyaluronic acid is made into a gel product that can be injected into the skin for long-lasting results.  Some of the cross-linking technologies are used in Restylane and Juvederm to change the composition and the viscosity of the filler, therefore making the filler hold its composition and lasting longer after injection.

What are the possible side effects of Juvederm injectable gel?

Under supervision of an expert injector,  the side effects are minimized.   At NewSkin Laser Center we use a cannula to inject the lips which reduces the common side effects that are accompanied with Lip Fillers.
Most side effects are:
  • mild or moderate swelling
  • Redness or bruising
